Built as a school in 1903, it wasn’t hard to conjure up a vision for the listed-building. A feast of original features, such as its vast Edwardian windows and bare brick walls, it was a true labour of love to get this local icon back into a condition worthy of its potential.
We saw a fantastic opportunity in 154 McDonald Road to create a living space that not only reinvigorated a beautiful Edwardian building but offered a rental-concept unlike anywhere else in Edinburgh.
Showcasing the building’s history whilst complementing its features with a cutting-edge look and feel throughout was important to us. We also decided that ‘luxury’ shouldn’t just be skin deep for us, so we were keen to include a list of services and amenities that would afford our residents the most valuable luxury of all – time.
With the highest standards of interior design and technology in mind and the building’s original grandeur at heart, our restoration treads a fine balance between the best of both the old and new.
However, with app-controlled thermostats, keyless entry systems, state of the art appliances and smart lighting, it’s definitely learnt some new tricks since 1904.
